DEPARTMENT: Press. SHIFT: 6pm – 6am, rotating. Assist with daily pressroom floor duties. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Pull stock and ink to press prior to make ready to promptly start job. • Keep press supplied with various necessary supplies-chemicals, rags, etc. • Demonstrate the ability to gum plates and inspect for damage, fill out appropriate stickers regarding damaged plates. • Ability to file plates with proper plate sheets. • Maintains production of gumming machine. • Responsible for the changing and disposal of chemical barrels. • Assists in cleaning up and keeping work area neat and orderly. • Maintains shelves and organization of make-ready waste • Responsible for the disposal of garbage and recycling bins in press area. • Assists in outside maintenance when necessary. FLEXO PLATE MOUNTER
DEPARTMENT: Flexo Press. SHIFT: TBD. To provide the highest quality and correct plates with each order prior to press production. Work with Scheduler to make sure jobs are properly staged for the Pressmen. Read spec sheets to identify how the job must be mounted and the direction the plates need to be mounted by the customer’s request. DUTIES and RESPONSIBLITIES: • Review job tickets for components required. • Insure that proofs and/or samples are in job ticket. • Inspect plates for any flaws, damage, or potential problems. • Pre-stage all components at press site readily available; to include print cylinders, mounted plates, stock, inks, tooling, and anything else required for the order. • Mount plates per customer specs. • Maintain inventory levels and physical storage of production components. • Review scheduling board with Scheduler. • Upon completion of jobs, return production components to storage locations. • General plant cleanup duties; i.e., emptying trash containers, sweeping, etc. • Assisting operators on press after staging priorities are completed for the purpose of increasing productivity. • Communicate with supervisors on job staging statuses as that may affect scheduling. Especially identify missing components for alternative scheduling planning. • As there are many storage locations, advise supervisors when assistance is required to maintain organization of those areas. • This is a development position, curiosity and interet in advancement is important. The Press Feeder is responsible for the feeder area of the sheet fed press and for assisting in safe, efficient and economical press make ready, operation, washup and maintenance in conformance to company rules and procedures. DEPARTMENT: Flexo Press. SHIFT: Monday - Thursday, 2:25pm - 12:50am. 8 to 10-color flexographic press operation. Each press is classified according to a three-level structure provided by the Flexo Department. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Must perform the following duties without assistance: interpret job ticket, set up 5, 8, and 10 color web presses, make-ready and run 1 color to 10 color PMS, four color process jobs and specialty jobs, while maintaining clean and registered print quality. • Completely document all job history on proper forms and in the PSI System. • Knowledge of pressure sensitive stocks and paper types to ensure proper paper is used per the job ticket. • Knowledge of inks and the ability to mix PMS colors. • Trouble shoot web presses. • Properly handle and make-ready rotary dies and other press elements such as sheeter / perfer dies, lineal scorers, line-hole dies, Cameron blades, stacker units, etc. • Accurately record roll-to-roll counts. • Complete daily time sheets when necessary and accurately record information in the PSI System. • Ability to solve chemistry problems. • Organize and identify need for re-order of press supplies. • Communicate with EPP department and production department to solve problems or difficulties and ensure incorrect or sub-standard plates are remade. • Communicate with Production Supervisors to ensure any unusual problems or circumstances are clarified before finishing processes are started.
